For your next trip to the Great Smoky Mountains, plan to take along your iPhone. This national park has gone global and offers a free application that’s available for downloading simply by visiting the Apple’s iTunes store. This is one app that you don’t want to miss out on.

When you download the free application you’ll receive all types of information about the Smokies that can help make your trip more enjoyable. You’ll have access to the guides and maps of the park plus so much more. For a small fee of $4.99 you can get an upgrade that will provide even more information that’s more in-depth. For example, you can get suggestions for hikes and find out where some of the most beautiful scenery is located.

The app offered by Apple is “location aware”. What this means is that if you can get a signal for your GPS, you will be able to access a program that can pick up your exact location and give you tips on the weather in the area where you are and let you know which sights are close to you. It can even tell you your elevation.

It has the ability to combine the National Parks Service maps with others such as Google maps. The iPhone app designed to help visitors to the Smokies have a wonderful trip to the park was developed by Nomad Mobile Guides and all the information used in the app comes from a reliable source.

One of the great things about this app is that it’s interactive and allows the user to skip around the information and personalize the content based on personal preference. This new Apple iPhone app is considered an excellent resource that can truly help visitors enjoy their trip to the Great Smoky Mountains.

An update has been released for the free app. You can now buy just the guides you want from within the app. Most are only $0.99. Cades Cove lovers can get Cades Cove Day Hikes and Cades Cove Tour for $2!
